9 of the Best Nike Collaborations of All Time

Keyword: Nike collaborations

Nike Inc. was founded in 1964 by a coach from the University of Oregon and since then it has gone on to become a global super-brand! In fact, each year it brings in $24 billion worth of revenue.

One of the things that makes Nike shoes so popular is their ever-changing, fresh styles and Nike collaborations are a huge part of this. These combine Nike’s quality sneakers with some of fashion’s greatest names. If you’re looking for a new pair of sneakers then you can’t go wrong with a Nike collaboration.

Need some inspiration? Then you’re in the right place! Read on to find out the nine best Nike collaborations of all time.

1. Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 “MCA”

Nike’s Off-White collection has been a huge hit with people around the world. However, the MCA collaboration with Virgil Abloh deserves a special mention.

This was released to celebrate his exhibit Figures of Speech, which opened last year at the Museum of Contemporary Art in July 2019. This extremely exclusive design had a limited release at the museum itself so getting your hands on a pair will cost you at least $1,500! But they’re well worth it if you’re into sneakers.

The bold blue will set off any outfit perfectly and their distinct red tag will set them apart from your other trainers.

2. Clot x Nike Air Force 1

Another great style of Air Force 1 from an experienced designer marks Edison Chen’s latest Nike collaboration. Chen uses rich Chinese blue silk in the upper design of these shoes to create something truly special.

Don’t worry though, these sneakers don’t compromise on comfort. Their gum sole means you can enjoy showing them off to your friends time and time again.

3. Nike x Undercover

Nike has collaborated with Japanese designer and founder of Undercover, Jun Takahashi, several times. Their most recent design is the Nike Gyakusou Zoom Fly SP, which was released in 2018.

This proved to be an all-round popular choice with everyone from streetwear fans to tech junkies to sports heads. It perfectly fuses Nike’s design with the Undercover brand, using Nike’s React Element.

4. G-Dragon x Nike Air Force 1

K-pop legend G-Dragon worked with Nike in 2019 on these unique Air Force 1 sneakers, also known as Air Force 1 Para-Noise. Their black and white design may look simple to the untrained eye but these shoes are full of amazing detail.

The black painting along the mid-soles is a clever nod to the amazing design that these shoes will reveal with time. Over time, the black upper section of these sneakers wears away to reveal unique artwork by G-Dragon! So the longer you wear them for, the more you get to enjoy them.

With chunky white laces and G-Dragon’s flower branding logo on the tongue, this was one of the best shoe collabs from last year.

5. Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1

In the world of sneakers, you can’t get much bigger than Travis Scott at the moment so this was always going to be one of the best sneaker collabs around. It’s hardly surprising, then, that last year they saw so much success.

Simply put, these are some of the coolest high-top sneakers around. With muted tones in the upper design, you can easily dress them up or down depending on the occasion. The intricate design of the Air Jordan logo is also a lovely touch.

6. Nike x Errolson Hugh

At the more dazzling end of the spectrum, Errolson Hugh has worked with Nike on a number of occasions. Over the years, Hugh’s designs have brought together the best of sportswear and techwear. And they aren’t shy about it.

Some of their most notable collaborations include the Acronym Lunar Force 1 and the Acronym Air Presto in 2016.

7. Nike x Kanye West

It would feel wrong to even consider leaving Kayne’s Nike collaborations off this list. Not only are they some of the best Nike collaborations, but they’re also some of the most legendary.

Their first, eagerly-anticipated collaboration, the Air Yeezy 1, was released back in 2009. It featured an entirely new Nike silhouette which West designed himself. This has been used as a silhouette for West’s designs moving forward.

Since 2009, he and Nike have released the Air Yeezy 2, the Solar Red and the Pure Platinum. Collectively these have sold thousands of pairs around the world and have changed the face of Nike forever.

8. Atmos x Air Max 1

Since 2001, Atmos has worked with Nike injecting a range of funky designs into the brand’s Air Max 1 silhouette. So if you’re a fan of bold prints then you should definitely check these out.

The Air Max 1 Safari and Elephant designs, released in the 2000s, balance bold animal prints with black to create a look that you can enjoy every day. The Nike branding infuses the design with a dash of color that is eye-catching but not overwhelming. These shoes are a lesson in how to enjoy prints without making them garish.

9. Sacai x Nike LD Waffle

Sacai’s LD Waffle is evidence that Nike collaborations with designers are one of the best ways to push the boundaries. These bold shoes don’t mess around when it comes to standing out and truly embrace a 70s aesthetic.

They also bring more than any Nike shoe has before. They’ve got a double sole, double laces, and double Nike ticks! At the moment, these eye-catching shoes are available in five different color palettes. However, this coming year we expect that Nike will also release a black and white version for a more muted appearance.
