Chances are you are pretty aware of Jordan Brand’s habit in bringing back Air Jordans in OG form. This time, Air Jordan 5 in the OG Fire Red colorway returns in 2020. Having endless styling potential, the iconic pair boasts a crisp colorway.
Originally released in 1990, the stable silhouette has been here for three decades. The metallic-tongued pair was on Michael Jordan’s feet when he scored 69 points during a Chicago Bulls victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers. As part of the 30th milestone anniversary celebration, Jordan brand re-releases the true-to-the-original colorway ‘Fire Red’.
Third Retro Release
It had been released again in 2000 and 2013 already, and this is its third retro release. Some sneakerheads predicted that this may be the most accurate re-creation yet.
Inspired by urban silhouettes, this “Fire Red” Air Jordan 5 starts off with a smooth white premium leather construction on the upper. There are also overlays to reinforce the structure of the silhouette and enhance durability.
The pair is finished with unique accents that instantly steal the show. The 3M reflective silver tongue provides a signature shimmering contrast. Signature translucent plastic netting also completes the design.
Fighter Plane Inspired Shark Teeth
The P-51 Mustang, a WWII-era US fighter plane, is also part of Tinker Hatfield’s inspiration when designing the Air Jordan 5. The aggressive shark teeth, which were often painted on the plane, brings a little extra sizzle to the pair.
Other details, of course, include the instantly recognisable Nike Air logo and Jordan’s Jumpman. Nike’s exclusive Air unit is also visible in the heel.
Perfect for the warmer weather, this sneaker is a certified must cop for summer. Want to get your hands on it? Make sure to get your early pair at Kickscrew now. Or see other Air Jordan 5 Retros HERE.
