Japanese high fashion label sacai and Nike have teamed up again to release two new colorways of LD Waffle. The famed silhouette is a hybrid of two iconic Nike runners — LDV and Waffle Racer. Long-awaited Iterations
Ever since its release, sacai x Nike LD Waffle has been enjoying a burst of feverish popularity. The two new colorways serve as a neutral follow-up of the most sought-after Nike sneaker collaborations since September 2019.
Monochrome Colorways
Unlike the previous editions in vibrant colors, the two latest versions of LD Waffle are dressed in simple white and black colorways. They are so versatile and universal that can team up with basically most outfits in your wardrobe effortlessly.
Playing with Textures
Of course, under the hands of designer Chitose Abe, the double everything aesthetic remains. This time, the experimental LD Waffle is highlighted with substantial nylon on the upper, instead of using breathable mesh like their first collaboration. What is usually a super fine suede panel has been swapped to a ‘hairier’ version, creating a stark contrast with the double swooshes and overlaid panels.
Satin Shoelaces
The shoelaces of the new LD waffles are worth our attention as well. The design is finished off with satin laces, showcasing Sacai’s iconic luxe aesthetics. It also comes with a set of traditional laces, so that you can change it whenever you want.
