Since its June 2020 debut, the “Space Hippie” collection by Nike has started a new trend of fusing sustainability with futuristic designs. The clean and conceptual looks capture our hearts, and we’re constantly wondering “What’s Next?”
Today, we look at two of the rumored upcoming additions to the junk-themed lineup. Keep reading if you want to be both in style and environmentally aware.
Space Hippie Waffle Racer
Alleged designs of the Waffle Racer in Space Hippie outfit have been circling the Internet as early as May 2020 (see below).
As we’re in August, it looks like the Waffle Racer will be getting a way more colorful makeover for the Space Hippie release.
From photos that surfaced online, the Space Hippie rendition features a woven textile upper in Midnight Navy with pastel accents. A green Swoosh is slapped across the side, while light pink laces stand out against the subdued upper.
The recycled elements can be found on the tongue and heel, as Nike incorporates Crater foam in these areas. On top of the multi-colored heel counter, you can see the NIKE branding on purple suede.
Corresponding to the pastel color scheme, the signature Waffle Racer sole is dressed in soft pink.
With a to-be-confirmed release date, the current design may still undergo alternations. Let us know what you think of the newest pics though!
Space Hippie Asuna Slides
It appears that the Nike Asuna Slides will be getting a Space Hippie uniform as well.
Dressed in the signature orange and blue color scheme, the focal point of the slides has to be the crater foam sole. The light blue outsole comes with jagged ridges to make sure no surface is too difficult to walk on.
As for the upper, a standard adjustable toggle lacing system is in place. Light blue, grey and a hint of orange completes the Space Hippie aesthetic.
Again, Nike hasn’t given us an official release date yet. But these will sure be very popular given their predecessors’ successes.
