LeBron James: Top 6 Favorite Sneakers

While different NBA seasons look subtly different, one thing remains certain: LeBron James will bring the heat with his sneakers. And when off the momentum of a championship run, there’s always more in store for LeBron. Think of the return of the Nike LeBron 8, the debut of the Nike LeBron 18… there’s always something to anticipate for.

See, the prolific NBA star signed with Nike for an approximately $90 million deal, fresh out of high school. In 2015, he signed a new lifetime deal that is rumored to be worth $1 billion. So as expected, LeBron James is a real sneakerhead.

Recently (i.e. during the Lockdown), he took to his Instagram Live to engage with his fans and respond to their questions. There, LeBron mentioned his favorite sneakers – and here’s that rundown.

Nike Air Zoom Generation

Now, this is a no brainer as it’s the one that started all.

Nike Air Zoom Generation was the first model LeBron James stepped on the playground with, in his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He averaged 5.5 RPG, 5.9APG, and 20.9 PPG; and won the Rookie of the Year Award.

LeBron donned the shoe in his first regular-season of the NBA game, in 2003. The kicks were re-introduced in 2017 dupped as “First Game”. The model had a smooth white upper and featured a black mesh fabric around the heel, side, and midsole. It was finished with a Crimson accent on the heel and Swoosh.

The model uses the Air and Zoom Technology for cushioning and as such, garner additional benefits such as lightness, versatility, and durability. Note, the Air Technology consists of pressurized air inside a firm yet flexible bag placed around the heel.

The Zoom technology is used on the frontal area. It comprises synthetic fibers stuffed in-between plastic. This technology is slim and thus, brings the feet to the ground, which enhances stability and multi-directional footwork.

Nike Air Zoom Generation has a rubber sole with a herringbone traction pattern that provides traction and durability. It also features carbon fiber in the mid-outsole that adds springiness. The white laces can be adjusted to provide a customized fit and lockdown.

The Nike Sphere Technology allows the air to circulate freely over the skin offering the needed breathability. At the same time, the padded layer between the inner and outer surfaces follows a circular dimple pattern that helps to wick away moisture. As such, your feet remain cool and dry.

Overall, the structure of this model provides adequate stability and support, which makes it cool and comfortable for any footwork.

Nike LeBron 7

James LeBron sets high demands for the creation of his signature shoe line. As such, it’s no doubt that Nike LeBron 7 is a great performer. He actually wore this pair for the 2009-2010 NBA season where he won his second NBA MVP award.

This 7th pair in LeBron’s line was the first to feature a full-length Air Max midsole cushioning that’s specially designed for basketball. Here, the airbag contains 80% more air, which offers unbelievable comfort. Added to that is a foam midsole that provides plush cushioning underfoot.

Lebron 7 has a full rubber outsole with a herringbone pattern that enables the wearer to easily change directions and make quick cuts.

When it comes to lockdown, the model features a mid-top silhouette with Flywire technology and lace-up closure for more support and customizable fit and closure.

The model makes use of a mix of synthetics and leather to ensure adequate support and durability. At the same time, the lining and padded collar offer a comfortable and soft feel.

Featuring a blend of 90s style and modern technology, it’s no wonder that LeBron 7 was one of the best kick options in 2009.

Nike LeBron 15

James LeBron donned this model in his 2nd farewell season from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Here, LeBron debut several special colorways, which sent the internet ablaze and sparkled #LeBronWatch.

Lebron 15 was the first Nike’s model to feature a great combination of Max Air and Zoom technologies, which resulted in unbelievable cushioning.

Different colorways feature a gum, solid, or translucent rubber outsole. They also featured a triangular and spiked traction pattern that suits a shifty and linear movement. The spiked pattern increases the court grip, even on dusty grounds – which makes it ideal for both indoor and outdoor games.

The Nike Lebron 15 features a full-bootie construction with Flywire technology for lockdown. The model has round laces held in place by loops that appear to be connected to the Flywire technology.

The kicks have a high-grade Flyknit upper that’s comfortable, durable, and stretchable. The inside is lined with foam to provide that soft feel. A midfoot shank lies between the inner and outer surfaces to provide extra stability and durability.

Note, LeBron 7 was designed after James LeBron’s feet. As such, you should buy-down half a size – especially if you’ve narrow or normal-sized feet.

Nike LeBron 4

According to Lebron, Nike Lebron 4 “was ahead of its time”. Sneaker news reported that it was the first sneaker to have a Foamposite upper since 2003. Then again, the inner mesh sock liner, Foamposite stability, and grooved sole were employed to maximize on-court feel.

James LeBron had donned this model on his first trip to the NBA final.

Nike LeBron 2

According to LeBron, Nike LeBron 2 “was one of his most comfortable shoes”. The model featured a Full-length large-volume Zoom Air with Pebax shell for optimal support.

The shoe makes use of the conventional lace-up system where the oval laces provide a customizable fit. Its heels have molded sections to offer adequate foot containment. It also features an inner sleeve for a sock-like snug.

LeBron 2 features a lightweight textile and synthetic leather upper. The leather provides support, durability, and protection against toe drags. On its end, the textile provides breathability to keep the feet cool and dry.

The mid-top silhouette comes in different tonal colorways, with LeBron’s logos strategically placed on the outsole, tongue, and heel counter.

When sizing, it’s best to go a half size down to obtain the right fit.

Nike LeBron 17 EP

Nike LeBron 17 EP features a brand new upper material and a large Max Air unit. As such, the kicks offer up the much-needed stability while remaining stylish and unique enough to stand out from the crowd.
