3 Most Anticipated Sneaker Releases in 2021
We only have a little more than 3 months left in 2020 (yes, surreal), and it’s human nature to want to know what’s to come in the sneaker world in the coming year. Today we bring to you 3 tentative 2021 releases that are totally worth the hype.
Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard”
In Air Jordan 1 history, not that many colorways are as legendary and irreplaceable as the “Shattered Backboard”.
The orange hue represents such an iconic backstory: Michael Jordan’s scoring 30 points and his dunk that was so powerful, it shattered the glass backboard.
That was 35 years ago, and we’re now so excited to welcome the 5th rendition of the “Shattered Backboard” colorway in 2021.
From leaked pictures online, the prototype of the new “Shattered Backboard” gives us a retro flavor by retaining the OG black toe design. The black-and-white leather upper is faithful to the Air Jordan 1 motif, while the signature SBB orange appears on the heel, ankle and outsole.
Although there’s no official confirmation yet, but expect to see the new “Shattered Backboard” AJ1s in Summer 2021.
sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle
It’s not the first time we’ve heard about the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle collaboration. We’ve previewed a few colorways before, and our question is: when are they dropping?
Thanks to insider @py_rates_ , we now know that four versatile colorways are set to release in Spring 2021.
Following its predecessors, the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle model goes for a double-stacked aesthetic. From the tongue, laces, Swooshes to the layered midsoles, we can observe a conceptual look of sneaker components laying on top of each other.
The leaked colorways showcase quite a range of versatility, so that everyone can find their favorite pair. We hope you’re hyped for the Vaporwaffle’s release, as it’s only several months from now!
Supreme x Nike Air Jordan 1
We’ve gone over the Supreme x Nike Air Jordan 1 leak when it first came out, but we figured this drop is worth mentioning again now that Supreme has announced their Fall/Winter 2020 collection.
Scheduled for a 2021 release, the upcoming Supreme Air Jordan 1s directly take inspiration from the 2003 Supreme x Nike SB Dunk High collection.
Coming in Varsity Red, University Blue and College Orange, the kicks feature golden star graphics and faux croc leather. The rest of the design is kept the good ol’ Air Jordan 1 way.
